Christians in danger.

2008 September 19

There is an absolutely heartbreaking account of Christians in India being hunted down by mobs of Hindu’s and murdered and tortured for their beliefs.

You can read it here: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article4687075.ece

Pray for our brothers and sisters in India.

Its not a witch hunt. The root cause of the problem is related to certain evangelistic sect of christianity who are into “business of conversion ” by any hook or crook. The disturbing trend arises when they target / abuse the hindu culture and belief with no respect to the sentiments of others. The effect is division in society and increasing hatred.

I appreciate the saner chrisitan missionaries , for whom love is service but for many of the neo christian missionaries . conversion is business with no respect for other’s sentiments. It will definitely lead to backlash .

Mr. R I agree with the fact that those in the “business of conversion” are severly perverting the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And those that serve in love are the truer missionaries. And I would argue that the newer missionaries do serve because of love and not some spiritual checklist or tally sheet (at least in the denomination I serve).

I do think however that these attacks are not targeted at just a select few, but seem to be aimed at those who refuse to convert to Hinduism. You are correct, it is a disturbing trend when people “target / abuse” any culture or belief with no respect to others, and accomplishes exactly what you said. On the same hand, as I read these first hand accounts (as in the article) it seems that it is indeed an attempt to rid their “communities” of those who call themselves Christian. To burn alive orphanage workers, or those who refuse to denounce Christianity and convert to Hinduism, or to “cut into pieces” those who refuse Hindusim, that is sheer violence and evil and is indeed a “witch hunt” as you termed.

And yes, I realize that there have been many who have done this same thing “in the name of Christ” in history and that too is sheer violence and evil. I was not condemning all Hindu’s or the religion itself, I know that this is a very small select group of people who call themselves Hindi and does not reflect the larger religion or communitty. I was merely calling attention to that which I believe breaks the heart of God and should break our hearts as well.
